Elektra Anastasi began acting when she was 12 years old. She joined Masquerade Theatre School when it first opened in 1997 and took part in many of its early productions including Bel and the Dragon, Tin Pan Ali, Medea and The Rocky Horror Show. In 2005, she attended an intensive Shakespeare training course at London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In 2006, Elektra was awarded Best Actress in the MADC’s One-Act Play Festival for her role in Sarah Kane’s 4:48 Psychosis. She has since performed roles in Male Mela Filastrokka (Sicily) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?
What I love best which is a career in theatre but more often than not it’s just a dream.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I don’t think there is such a thing as “perfect happiness”, but being comfortable in your own skin is the closest one can get to it in my opinion.
What is your favourite occupation?
S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G! and complaining!
Significant other?
Currently my undivided attention goes to my boyfriend Joshua who I love very much.
What is your greatest fear?
Not to age gracefully.
What is it that you most value in your friends?
Their honesty.
How would you like to die?
Seeing as the outcome doesn’t quite change I am not really bothered as long as it’s quick.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Anything to do with luxury… Born to be pampered with five-star treatment!
What is your greatest regret?
Taking life way too seriously!
What is your most treasured possession?
A photograph of my great grandmother who I loved very much.
Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?
Seeing as I kind of sound like a drowning cat when I sing... I would love to have the gift of Voice. It must be such a liberating experience to know how to sing.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Being an envious person because I think it is a disease that erodes the soul in the long run.
Where would you like to live?
I wouldn’t mind living in New York for a few years.
What is your most marked characteristic?
It would have to be that I am a very straightforward person. According to my friends also one hell of a Drama Queen!
Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?
To me real “heroes/heroines” in real life are the people that on a day-to-day basis save lives or work towards making a difference.
What is it that you most dislike?
I most dislike being around people with superiority complexes, who are self-absorbed and have unjustified incredible egos.
What is your motto?
Someone once told me “No expectations, No disappointments” it is so true. It stuck with me.
