Now we know, don’t we, whose side the Union Haddiema Maghqudin is on? The UHM is gone off on its own now, it is no longer the champion of the workers where the electricity and water tariffs are concerned. Oh no, the unprecedented unity among the unions, achieved not under a dictatorial Labour government, but under an arrogant Nationalist administration, was too much for the government which must have leaned on the UHM and made it go its way.

Come to think of it, the leader of the UHM, Gejtu Vella seems to be enjoying his privileged position very well, to the extent that he caved in under government pressure for fear of losing it. And the CMTU, too, has come out as the charade it always was.

Well, when the wind blows, the cracks appear, and we know now who has cracked.
