Artists working within St Margaret College are holding a collective art exhibition at Gallery Couvre Porte in Vittoriosa. ‘Lifelong Learning through Art’ not only celebrates the professional and artistic contribution of college staff members but also serves as an educational stimulus in itself. It aims to bridge the gap between “high art” and students in schools by making works of art more accessible to pupils of all ages, from both within the college communities and other schools in Malta.
The participating artists are Bernard Attard, Keith Balzan, Dione Borg, Olivianne Caruana, Charlot Cassar, Raymond Darmanin, Sherryanne Gauci, Raymond Gialanze, Carmen Gouder, Tony Scerri, Fiorella Zammit and Jude Zammit. Some of the names featuring in the exhibition are not new to the Maltese art scene and altogether, the 12 artists provide a formidable collection of works that offer a broad spectrum of themes, styles and media, ranging from landscape to portraits, cubist to impressionistic, oils to ceramics.
The exhibition was initially put up at the Cottonera Sports Complex and was inaugurated by Louis Galea, Speaker of the House of Representatives. It will be open up to today.
