Dr Ray Busuttil and his team of capable people were right to launch a campaign against sexual diseases but unfortunately, it will prove to be useless.
As long as there are irresponsible people who think that marriage vows are outdated and something to be taken with a pinch of salt, as long as the young ones are so preoccupied with sex that asking them to abstain from sex is like asking them to go on a dangerous mission to Bangkok, such a campaign will not get the desired result.
We are living in an era where one is not concerned about one’s fate let alone the fate of others. With regard to the young people, most of them have no clue what condoms are; otherwise why would we be literally surrounded with unmarried mothers whom the state actually compensates with money raised from taxes? By actually allowing them a certain amount of money each month we are certainly approving their sex life. If I sound mean to unmarried mothers, I am sorry but I am sure they know what to do to prevent a pregnancy in their lives.
