Bank of Valletta has been named as the main sponsor of the BOV Gozo Cup, the official knockout competition of the Gozo Football Association, for the upcoming three football seasons. Bank of Valletta is also the sole supporter of the Gozo Ladies League.
Jack Theuma, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Gozo Branch, Alvin Grech, and Joe Bajada, respectively President and Secretary of the Gozo Football Association signed a support agreement during a ceremony where the fixtures of the BOV GFA Cup were drawn.
Speaking during the event Mr. Theuma said “Bank of Valletta has become synonymous with various local sports disciplines and is now pleased to extend its support to a major sporting competition on the island of Gozo”.
Alvin Grech welcomed the Bank’s support and said “With Bank of Valletta’s help, we aim to improve the level of the sport on the island and also raise the profile of the competition that already has a very good following in Gozo”.
The history of the Gozo Football Association dates back to its founding in 1936. The main objectives of the association are to organise and support local football competitions. Fourteen clubs participate in the National League, which is divided into two divisions. The football season ends with the Super Cup Final which is also sponsored by Bank of Valletta.
