Full marks for Daphne Caruana Galizia’s article (TMID, 11 December) on the suggested Maltese Parliament building on the former royal opera house site.

I would go even further. Instead of including some sort of space for cultural activities (we have a number of them at St James Cavalier, Manoel Theatre, the Mediterranean Conference Centre etc), we should utilise the space for offices that fall under the jurisdiction of the Speaker, such as the Ombudsman of the House, etc.

In this way we would have a truly self-contained parliament building worthy of our long democratic history and parliament would be self-contained.

I wish to see it happening before I die.
