I would like to thank the editor of this newspaper for thinking about those people who do not enjoy Christmas (TMID, 24 December).
In a society that seems to want to “impose”, as he rightly put it, on people to be happy at this time of the year, few seem to remember that there are people who really would like Christmas never to arrive.
It could be because of a bad memory, it could be because they simply do not like this time of the year and would rather spend the day in bed instead of outwardly making merry with others while dying inside.
I am one of those people who never enjoy Christmas, but have to smile and try to be sociable when all I would like to is be on my own. The people around me never understood this, and I often end up being teased and called names. This, of course, makes matters worse.
Therefore I once again thank the editor for thinking of people like me. I think there are many of us, more than some others would like to believe.
