I would like to praise all the efforts taken by the Sliema local council over the last few years.

The pavement works throughout the locality, particularly Censu Xerri Street, St Dominic Street c/w St Laurence, Guze Howard c/w Amery Street, inter alia clearly show a strong commitment towards Sliema by our local council.

In the coming months and years, Sliema deserves so much more. I will float two ideas. Firstly, I believe the council could consider introducing energy saving measures in line with the government policy as announced in a number of budget speeches. Secondly, one can also consider adding new bicycle tracks. This would be in line with government policy of encouraging the use of bicycles as an alternative to other forms of transport.

By way of conclusion, Sliema has benefited from the strenuous efforts of different successive councils. I wish our local council to build upon the successes of the past.
