Attracting People to Malta… by means of a cleavage

Malta Independent Sunday, 4 January 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A chance encounter in an elevator transports an ordinary man out of his everyday life into a dream of relaxation and indulgence. What actually happens to him, viewers can only imagine: the only thing they see is tousled hair…

Media Consulta is promoting Malta with what is called a ‘viral spot’.

The latest MC Newsletter says that a viral spot produced by MC, under the title “Malta inspires”, advertises Malta’s fascination and appeal.

A man, soberly dressed in a suit, is alone in an elevator when a tall brunette enters. He glances briefly at her cleavage, relieved by her red summer dress. The stranger’s jewellery, a necklace with a Maltese cross, sets the man off into a daydream, out on a yacht in the Mediterranean.

Suddenly, dressed in a captain’s uniform, he is pouring champagne for the beautiful stranger from the elevator who is now wearing a scanty bikini. Both are flirting, enjoying the Maltese sunshine.

The stranger loosens her top, the man loses his balance and falls overboard – back to the reality of the drab elevator.

The woman smoothes her hair and straightens her skirt and leaves the elevator. What has happened? The man wonders: was this real or just a dream? The red bikini top in his hand provides the answer.

Since the beginning of November, the spot has been available for viewing on various websites such as YouTube, sevenload and clipfish. It is intended to convince young people in particular of the attractive image of Malta.

The viral spot is part of a pan-European campaign for the Malta Tourism Authority.
