I read with great interest Henry Brincat’s report of the Malta Olympic Committee’s press briefing of an analysis of our athletes’ achievements during the outgoing year and a review of our international calendar for 2009 (TMID, 7 January).

But surprisingly Mr Brincat failed to include in his report a particular moment during the same press briefing when the MOC president Lino Farrugia Sacco honoured veteran sports journalist Twanny Buhagiar with a special memento for his great contribution to local sports during a span of 50 years.

Mr Buhagiar’s dedication as a coach, referee and especially as a journalist deserved the appreciation of the Malta Olympic Committee.

So it was surprising that Mr Brincat, himself a veteran sports journalist and a colleague of Mr Buhagiar, did not include this special moment in his report.
