I am a Maltese living in London.
On a recent visit to the West End, with family from home, we visited all the famous landmarks and my young nephew documented our time together with his new digital camera. His snap happy approach to documenting his first trip to London was the source of much amusement as us older generations grappled with the concept of endless electronic storage space as opposed to the old 24 and 36 exposure film of days gone by.
I am so pleased that his enthusiasm for capturing every moment was not dampened by our jovial criticisms as having received some of the photos via email shortly before Christmas I was surprised to see in the background he had captured a small piece of Malta at the famous Piccadilly Circus.
If you look closely at the photo you will see the famous advertising hording near to the Eros statue and Trocadero close to Regents Street and Leicester Square – I have tried in vain to find out if this means a Café Jubilee is set to open in London so I am appealing to your readership to contact us if this is the case... where is it?
Does it serve up the same good home cooking that we miss so much? I thought perhaps it is a Malta Tourism Authority publicity campaign, but I have not received a response from MTA – I guess that would be far too financially elaborate in these tough times!
Oh to taste a good ftira over a cup of coffee in these cold winter months would warm our hearts. Anyway, if anyone knows we’d love to hear...
