It was good news indeed – George Abela nominated by both political parties to be Malta’s next president.

We should now move on and let him plan for his job and provide him with all the possible support.

I am afraid there is probably one person already on the keyboard undertaking research to dig up as much dirt as she can to criticise and denounce this decision.

I am sure all your readers know who this is – Daphne – I truly hope I am wrong on this one.

Support for this decision from both sides of the Maltese press will be the only true reflection of political maturity not only from the politicians but also from society, including the fourth estate.

All sensible Maltese should now follow the existing president’s lead in congratulating George Abela – including Daphne Caruana Galizia and her fans.
