From Mr A. Zarb-Dimech
It is several months now that I have been trying to purchase the medicinal eye drops Pirfalin and so far pharmacies are still out of stock. I have also been told that there are no replacement drops for them.
Subsequently, I enquired at the government hospital and was told that these drops are not purchased by the government and therefore are not available for sale at the government pharmacy. I was also given the impression that these drops are not indispensable for the treatment of cataracts.
But the curious and strange matter is that a local ophthalmologist had prescribed these drops and I have used them for more than 10 years. It would be in the interest of the health authorities to clarify such a situation and also if these drops are truly effective as treatment of this condition? The situation seems very ambiguous!
