The confusion that the government has created about the way energy tariffs are being calculated is symptomatic of a government that cares little about the way people think and how they are being affected.

One day we hear a minister saying that when the price of oil comes down to below $85 per barrel, the energy tariffs will be revised. But when this happened, the government stayed silent.

And it is only now that the price of oil has fallen to below $50 per barrel that the prime minister has said that the tariffs will be revised. But this will happen after the payment of the bills that have been sent.

What does the government think? That people can believe everything? Isn’t it obvious that the tariffs will be revised some time close to the European Parliament elections, as the Nationalist Party will seek to win three seats?

The people can be fooled once, twice and perhaps even three times (three PN general election victories in a row). But there won’t be a fourth time.

The Labour Party will win the EP elections and, come 2013, it will not lose the general election again.

The Nationalist Party has taken the people for a ride too many times, and it is only thanks to its European Union vision that it was able to overcome Labour in 2003, and the fact that Labour did not change its leader that it won again in 2008.

Labour now have a new enthusiastic leader who will be taking the party places.
