Wardens And fines

Malta Independent Wednesday, 11 February 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

I would like to thank a warden for mailing me a fine. It said that I was passing through the Santa Venera tunnels at 12:54:05 pm (broad daylight) without my sidelamps on. To date, I have only been given two fines by the local wardens, this one and a latter one two years ago in Gozo. Guess what? I was the only one with a fine stuck to my windscreen while the others, being Gozitans, did not have one.

On a local TV programme, which discussed ‘wardens’, a local warden admitted that we are all given a three time chance. But this is not the case with me.

Local wardens should first and foremost fine all those drivers using their mobiles while driving, reckless drivers, double parking etc., not the little fish. Are wardens afraid of the ‘big fish’ on the road?

I am not going to appeal to the Petitions Board (as stated on the fine) as I think it is a waste of time.

I live in Birzebbuga and I am proud to say it is a warden free village. Thank God we live ‘happily ever after’.
