When around seven years ago the ‘Nazzjon’ headline screamed out that a labour councillor in the diabetes clinic in St Luke’s hospital was being investigated over a series of cancellations of appointments concerning the ophthalmic department, not one single soul from the Nationalist Party protested that she was innocent, not even the Health Minister at the time.

Only Frans Ghirxi, editor of l-orizzont, allowed her article stating loud and clear that she was on sick leave on the day in question to be published. Only Emanuel Cuschieri was righteous enough to read her article loud and clear on the radio.

The actual satisfaction of this person was that seven years later, she is still working in the diabetes clinic although the hospital is now called Mater Dei.

Those who tried to harm me through slander were obviously terribly disappointed. Justice prevails. Since I have never acted like a Nationalist and kept mum where I feel I should speak out, I have to declare that I cannot understand why the media has to make such a song and dance about the “brother of Minister John Dalli”, who has been charged in court.

We are all responsible for our actions. If brothers, sisters, wives and even children of people who are public figures perform deplorable actions, no one is responsible but the person involved. For once in my life, my solidarity is all with Minister Dalli!
