Following seven months of sterling work, the new indoor sports hall at Stella Maris College was recently inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Ms. Dolores Cristina. This coincided with the College’s 105th anniversary since its foundation.

The sports hall (photo), named after St. Mutien-Marie, has a rubber flooring and caters for traditional team games such as futsal, handball, basketball, volleyball and hockey. However, it also includes a number of innovative indoor activities for students of all ages.

In fact, the multi-purpose hall includes a climbing wall, a bowling alley and is also used for indoor bocci, badminton, gymnastics, curling and archery. Intercrosse, an indoor version of lacrosse, is also being introduced to the students.

Bro. David Mizzi fsc, Director of the College, stressed that through such a facility the school is continuing in its bold efforts to help students include physical exercise in their daily routine as well as to serve as a beneficial leisure time alternative whilst students have a rest from their studies.
