Marco Fu (photo) yesterday knocked out competition favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan from the Welsh Open.
The world number one surrendered a 3-1 lead after a series of errors which allowed Fu to come back and win four frames in a row after the mid-session interval.
Stephen Maguire also came from behind to beat Ding Junhui 5-4.
Junhui was a pot away from winning 5-2 but Maguire put together some solid scoring managing to claim a place in the quarters where he faces Joe Swail.
Fu will now face either John Higgins or Neil Robertson in the quarter finals.
Ali Carter and Graeme Dott battled to the final frame with Carter winning the last and a place in the quarters where he will meet either Mark King or Shaun Murphy.
