I refer to Daphne’s opinion page of 15 February. I used to be a great admirer of Daphne but over the last few years I felt her articles were overtly partisan, biased, negative and on many occasions very subjective, patronising and vitriolic. In principal I generally give her opinion page a miss.
However, I was amused by the quotation in the article where she described “the delicious irony of the Sliema petite bourgeoisie”. I was under the impression that Daphne and her family hailed from the “petite bourgeoisie”. I am not sure where from and I leave that to her for verification.
I did read the said article, which unsurprisingly was a whole diatribe against Astrid Vella, the Slimizi, AD the LP and so on and so forth, accompanied by Daphne’s usual ranting about the terrible Seventies and Eighties. Is it not time to move on?
Daphne does no credit to her intelligence with these sorts of articles. It might be wiser if she stuck to the editing and production of the beautiful Taste and Flair magazines.
