Consideration ought to be given to the structural integrity of the bridge which crosses Manwel Dimech Street, Sliema. At present there are signs which state the maximum permissible load to cross the bridge but, unfortunately, this is being repeatedly ignored.

As a Nationalist prospective candidate for Sliema local council, I feel that our hardworking council should address this matter with the prompt urgency it requires. The bridge could collapse or some stones may be dislodged from underneath it and kill or injure somebody.

At this juncture, may I suggest that a width restriction be placed on the bridge and at the same time take a parking bay and convert it to a rubbish bin station, a suggestion made to me by local residents.
