A Neglected place

Malta Independent Wednesday, 25 February 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Reading your item on Buskett Gardens (TMID, 13 February) was of great interest. When I come over to Malta I see some elderly friends. The lady is 85 and as she cannot walk far I take them for an outing. She tells me how she used to go Buskett with her mother in her early years, and have a really good day. I took her and her husband last year and it was a disgrace. The footpaths were in an awful state, as they are also at San Anton.

The money from the EU should do some good or does the money go elsewhere? I am a regular tourist to Malta and I am sure other tourists see the same. In my honest opinion the first sight of Malta is of a sad, neglected place. Churches do not attract tourists.

Whatever MPs say, a lot has to be done here to catch up I suggest you also embellish towns other than Sliema.
