Referring to the editorial “One must complement the other” (TMID, 23 February), I would like to comment that to receive terrestrial digital TV services with best results, a proper TV antenna installed in an advantageous position is needed.

One might opt to receive terrestrial digital TV services which are available from our neighbouring country, Italy. Some of the Italian stations are freely available without any intermediate provider. To directly tune to Italian terrestrial TV services, a multi-element TV antenna (maybe also complemented with some sort of signal boosting) is a requisite.

Other considerations has to be looked into, as for example, the direction(s) from which the TV transmissions are being emitted, TV repeaters, the geographical position of the receiver and the advantages of communal antenna systems installations.

I do agree with you that there are jungles of derelict TV antennas on top of every densely populated area. This is a sort of skyline pollution which we must clean.
