In my letter of 4th January, I had asked ADT to explain its policy with regard to sleeping policemen. This in view of their removal from the Naxxar Square, thus endangering pedestrian safety. The ADT did not reply.

Last year I had written in the local press asking the ADT to explain why it had authorized the installation of no less than six sleeping policemen on Dragonara Road, St Julian’s, in a stretch of road of just 20 metres. Again the ADT did not consider that the public deserved a reply.

It is thus clear that the ADT has no policy on the use or otherwise of sleeping policemen on our roads. It refuses to allow them in the Naxxar square where this will clearly improve pedestrian safety, while at the same time allowing a cluster of bumps on our roads to protect cars leaving a private car park. The latter case is more ridiculous when one considers that half the bumps (i.e. three) are placed AFTER one leaves the road junction which entrance the bumps are one assumes meant to protect.
