I would like to highlight the plain horrible international registered mail delivery service provided by Maltapost.
Just a few minutes ago, as I write, a postman knocked at my door to deliver to me a package which was shipped from the UK on 16 January, 2009. This package, an international mail registered service, has been delivered nearly 30 days later.
It was sent from a company in the United Kingdom as part of a two-package order delivery. The first one was delivered approximately within five days. At first I thought the company had not sent all the items as ordered so I made contact with them and they informed they had posted two packages.
After an exchange of several e-mails, a couple of days ago the company was resigned to wait a week more before re-sending the order in order to keep their customer happy.
Finally the package arrived and I have now informed the company of its arrival. In a very brief chitchat with the postman, who was extremely hurried, he told me that the delivery staff is absolutely far short of what is needed and that’s what is causing such delays.
No wonder Maltapost has just reported a 74 per cent increase in profit over last year! No staff and the clients waiting and running around the shop trying to find where their packages are.
Where was that fool who said that with privatisation the service would improve? Come out and explain whether this is the “good” service we should expect!
