Loyola Basketball Day will be next Sunday when four club teams will be in action at the Ta’ Qali pavilion.
“Loyola will strive with utmost enthusiasm to provide an elite Junior and Youth Basketball Programme through advanced level coaching and stronger competition, continuously seeking to achieve the highest levels possible and with an unwavering commitment to player development, within the limitations of Sports in Malta.” This is the club’s mission statement.
The Loyola School of Basketball offers a developmental Programme which includes skill training, movement and co-ordination, learning of the basic fundamentals of Basketball, participation in tournaments, plus also in local MBA leagues/competitions and also covering sports discipline and the development of physical and mental preparation in sport.
The club’s programme also includes fun and it helps youngsters grow into better individuals.
This is reached through self-discipline, hard work, skill acquisition, and commitment to the team. It is hoped that these same requirements that are needed to promote excellence will also make our players more successful individuals in life.
Loyola BC ensure that each young player is striving for excellence in the game of basketball and also balancing it with family, school and friends achieving a healthy balance in life.
Also throughout the short history the club managed to achieve important results: Season 2004 Cadettes champions - Season 2005 Cadets Champions - Season 2006 Junior Men Champions and Season 2007 Division 2 Men MBA Shield Winners.
The day will be dedicated to the Loyola Basketball Club and nursery players and parents are expected to attend for this day. MBA together with the Loyola Basketball Club are inviting players and ex-committee members to attend during the day.
The day will come to an end when the senior male team will play Starlites Kerr Grill in a division two men league game.
