Il-Majjistral Nature And History Park – Exploring the countryside on foot

Malta Independent Sunday, 15 March 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The northwest of Malta offers unique seascapes and landscapes, a sense of wilderness and some truly inspiring walks. Protected in 2007, the park extends from Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa (Golden Bay) to Il-Prajjet (Anchor Bay), and is jointly managed by three non-governmental organizations – Din l-Art Helwa, the Gaia Foundation and Nature Trust (Malta).

The best way to enjoy the area is on foot – the suggested walking routes, starting from the vicinity of Golden Bay (bus 47 from Valletta), can be viewed at: http://www.majjistral. org/guided_walk.html

Alternatively you can opt to join a guided walk that takes in the main features of the park along an easy route of 6 km. For bookings or more information e-mail [email protected].

Whichever way you choose, enjoy the walk and respect your surroundings. More information at www.majjistral.org
