I would like to clarify the following with respect to two items carried in Odds and Ends (TMID, 16 March).

The first regarded the stretch of road adjacent to the wall of the Excelsior Hotel as one is driving from Floriana onto the Valletta ring road, that has been in total darkness for quite a while.

The Valletta local council does not have the devolution of the lights. So we’ve been reporting it to Enemalta for several weeks, but unfortunately the situation did not change much.

With regard to City Gate and the hawkers present there, the part being referred to, i.e., outside the gate, does not fall under the responsibility of the local council but under the central government.

We’re very wary of the situation and we’ve reported it several times to the competent authorities.
