New Low cost international mobile phone service launched in Malta

Malta Independent Sunday, 29 March 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

International mobile phone calls cost significantly less now, thanks to FooCall, a new service from Ghost Telecom, which was launched in Malta this week. FooCall has been developed specifically to lower the cost of international calls for mobile phone users without the need to change their phone or provider.

FooCall works by calling a number local to the person making the call, with FooCall automatically connecting this number to the international destination. The call is made over GSM, so call quality is not affected. Crucially, FooCall enables users to make really cheap international calls without changing their mobile phone or network provider, or downloading anything to the phone.

Malta-born UK entrepreneur Michael Camilleri, Ghost Telecom’s co-founder and CEO, said, “FooCall is dedicated to providing a cheap international calling service that offers ease-of-use and some of the lowest international rates available, regardless of calling method. We’re excited about FooCall and what it will mean for people calling friends and family abroad in these tough economic times”.

Sign-up to FooCall is free; just go to www.foocall.com. Right now, FooCall is also offering new users 15 minutes of free international calls so they can try out the service.

Further product features and improvements are planned for FooCall, including a web phone to make calls from any computer with a web browser, allowing users to access their same FooCall account whether they are sitting at a computer or on the move with their mobile phone.
