With regard to St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, the authorities in charge had better be careful about any chosen change when renovation is carried out, as mistakes are already evident. The façade of the church needs attention because of mistakes already made. The stones came from different quarries, giving the façade above the main door a chessboard appearance.
Also, the gilding inside the Cathedral in some parts is clearly gaudy and tastelessly brilliant, which contrasts vulgarly with the patina of the rest of the time-honoured stone.
Let the experts do it!
