The government claims that the VAT on car registration was all above-board, so I would like the government to answer one question: Why is it going to give refunds in credit-form to those who bought a car last year? And if it wasn’t legal, what gives it the right to illegally take what’s mine?

I don’t think the government is hard up for cash otherwise it would have never dreamed of new projects like a new Parliament that would only benefit the handful of MPs and ministers!

If Malta is in need of money, then I suggest government ministers give up some of their privileges, like unnecessary trips abroad and using less expensive cars for government business. Just remember, it’s the taxpayer who bears the burden.

Just like when the Prime Minister said that the surcharge on utilities was to “teach” us not to waste – I’d like to point out to him that we are paying more because of the losses that Enemalta had incurred while under government control!

And if Austin Gatt thinks that the Maltese are overreacting to the utilities surcharge and turning the whole thing into a ‘tejatrin’ – then I say to him: You’re right! This is a comedy of errors – but they are errors you made, and you are the producer, director and star of the show.
