Further to your editorial regarding our national holidays (TMID, 25 and 26 March), may I suggest the following solution to arrive at a single “national” day?

This results in a non-controversial date and virtually ensures that celebrations would be unaffected by the weather.

Present National Holiday Day Month

Independence Day 21 9

Republic Day 13 12

Sum of Dates 80 39

Divide the sum by 5 and round 16 8

New “National” Holiday
