Respecting The law

Malta Independent Wednesday, 1 April 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

It is disappointing to come across letters like the one I read (TMID, 25 March), regarding the illegal bridge in Pretty Bay Birzebbuga, which makes use of a nom de plume, in order to forward ill-disguised arguments and attempt to achieve cheap applause.

Fact of the matter is that the bridge was built illegally, without any planning permits what so ever. If local councils, organisations or individuals had to start carrying out all the developments they deem necessary without referring to the concerned authorities, the situation would quickly spiral down into chaotic anarchy.

It’s not about the bridge, or how useful it is.

It’s about respecting the law. If the construction is truly necessary, I am sure the authorities would be more than happy to oblige.
