Common Entrance exam

Malta Independent Thursday, 2 April 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

When one asks the question – Is the church common exam available the same to all Church schools? The answer is no.

The absolute majority of families whose children will sit for this exam this year and next year are at a great disadvantage compared to previous years. As everyone is aware, the Church School Board and the Church authorities, including our beloved Archbishop, said that the common exam will be eliminated after year 2010 and a new system will be introduced.

When we went to register our children to sit for the exam, we found out that St Aloysius College will only take 10 vacancies. This was due to the unilateral bad decision taken with the excuse that they have amalgamated with Stella Maris school Balzan.

This is contrary to the decision by the Church authorities that the implementation will start after year 2010. This decision has hurt all families concerned.

Families who attended an open day at the Archbishop Seminary in Tal-Virtu know how when the rector was questioned about this subject, he cut short.

If the Church wants to attract more families close to her She must avoid such injustice. There is one thing to do, the situation must return to normal procedures.
