Keith Borg is by profession an economist but claims that acting is his favourite occupation. He has been acting since he was 20 having been involved in various productions by CurtainRaiser Theatre Troupe, Theatr@lliance and the Malta Drama Centre among others. Last year he successfully completed the Lamda Certificate in Speech and Drama: Performance Studies (P. Cert.Lam.) His previous roles include Guy de Maupassant in Une vie, la vie, sa vie… with theatre@lliance, Henri Pranzini in Shadows and Gods with Theatrencore, Brat man in In search of the missing reindeer with Curtain Raiser Theatre Troupe and Albert in In search of Simone with Theatrencore. Last year Keith landed the part of Neil in the TV series Dejjem tieghek, Becky. He is also one of the founders of Theatrencore, a theatre company which aims at helping young and aspiring actors to develop artistically.

At the moment, Keith is part of the cast of Theatrencore in the production Michel which will take place at the MITP Theatre, Valletta on 17, 18, 19 April. In this original play in Maltese, author and director Tyrone Grima seizes the extraordinary and mundane aspects of life of the French writer Montaigne, presented in a contemporary setting. Keith Borg plays Etienne De La Boétie, a challenging role, which brings out the contradictions enveloping Michel Montaigne’s life and the ambiguous relationship between the same Montaigne and his loyal friend De La Boétie.

I’m 28. My star sign is Capricorn

(ambitious and stubborn). I was born on 29 December 1979.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

A movie alongside Al Pacino. That’s my dream, but then when I wake up I realize that most probably I’d still be analyzing graphs and charts… which isn’t that bad after all.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

The ingredients for me are love, peace of mind, good health and above all the

willingness to stop and appreciate the three in this frenetic world.

Acting.

What is your greatest fear?

Loneliness.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Being there when I truly need them.

How would you like to die?

Quickly.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Maybe clothing… but I’m not that extravagant… I’m an economist

Wasting a lot of time during adolescence.

What is your most treasured possession?

No tangible possession. All my experiences – good and bad.

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Remaining cool even under excessive pressure.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Ignorance.

Where would you like to live?

Anywhere as long as I have a home and not just a house.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Sometimes I’m too blunt.

Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

All those people who suffer in silence.

What is it that you most dislike?

Smoking, hypocrisy and blatant benevolence.

Look at the opportunity in every threat rather than at the threat in every opportunity.
