Civic Wardens needed

Malta Independent Wednesday, 15 April 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Lately I decided to take a walk in our nearby village in Marsascala.

I started walking from St Thomas Bay. I must congratulate the work that has been carried out with regard to paths, construction of boundary walls and painting, but walking along the paths I was really shocked at the way the gardens are kept.

Some people really spoil the effort that has been done. Walking toward the church along the promenade, I noticed that most bins were filled after a feast day and the promenade was littered with papers and empty bottles.

One could form a carpet with the dogs litter galore. The same could be said about the playing field, should not the owners of these restaurants start cleaning up their remnants immediately during the day? One must not let a customer even sit at table if the area is not clean and the table not well cleared!

What is the matter here?

What about civic wardens?
