Malta Independent Thursday, 16 April 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Special Olympics (S O) Malta will join 50 other countries for the UEFA annual football unified tournament during these days. This tournament is now a permanent part of the UEFA annual football calendar.

An estimated 50,000 S O players are expected to take part throughout Europe, from Gibraltar to Kazakhstan.

Malta, with the support of the Malta Football Association, is holding a four team tournament, when S O members will unite with four different football nurseries. In the first semi-final, Pembroke will play Tarxien and in the other match Qormi will be meeting Mosta, the holders.

The final is taking place next Monday, 20 April at 6.30pm. before the start of the important Premier League match between Valletta and Hibs.

S O Malta has thanked the Malta Football Association for its continued support and to the clubs taking part.

S O Malta is appealing to the general public to attend next Monday and donate generously during the collection to be held after the match.
