MTV Mobile Launched in Malta

Last Thursday, MTV Networks International and GO announced the launch of a new mobile service in Malta – MTV Mobile. The service will provide very attractive tariffs including an SMS launch offer of 1c per text message, and voice and video calls at 25c per hour, while MMS costs 15c. In addition, MTV Mobile will provide exclusive MTV content, downloads and streaming for free, as well as the unique offering of live TV on mobile.

MTV Mobile customers have exclusive access to MTV’s internationally renowned shows such as Pimp my Ride, Jackass, Laguna Beach, The Island Rock Am Ring, A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila, Making The Band 4, Beavis and Butthead, 8th and Ocean, Boiling Point, Man and Wife, Human Giant, Fist of Zen, Fur TV and Wendy Williams Experience.

The announcement was made jointly by Justine Powell, vice president, Digital Media, Emerging Markets, MTVNI, and Norbert Prihoda, chief operations officer of GO during an exclusive party held at Hard Rock Café Valletta Waterfront, which was attended by local TV and radio personalities, DJs, bands and members of the media.

MTV Mobile is a pre-paid mobile service and customers can opt to purchase a new MTV Mobile SIM card or switch to MTV Mobile and retain their number. MTV Mobile customers will benefit from all mobile services including voice and video calls, SMS, MMS, mobile TV and international calls. Customers can also use MTV Mobile abroad while roaming and benefit from GO’s extensive roaming network coverage in 197 countries.

Calls between MTV Mobile customers cost 25c an hour. SMS cost 1c as a launch rate until 31 July. The standard rate is 2c per message. Calls to other networks cost 14c per 30 seconds and SMS to other networks are charged at 5c.

MTV Mobile customers can top up online via www.mtvmobile.com.mt or by purchasing GO Mobile top-up cards. There is no time-window on MTV Mobile top-ups. MTV Mobile SIM cards are available for e20, which includes e15 credit. Alternatively, customers can buy a personalised number SIM card at e10 with no pre-loaded credit.

Customers who top up via MTV Mobile’s website with e10 or more can win two free exclusive tickets to watch Tribali live at the Green Pak Earth Garden festival being held at Ta’ Qali on 23 and 24 May.

Moreover, all MTV Mobile services are available from all GO outlets in Malta and Gozo and selected resellers.

To support the launch of MTV Mobile, GO has also opened a new MTV Mobile outlet in the Embassy Shopping Centre in Valletta. The outlet offers dedicated MTV Mobile service in a fun and trendy environment. Customers visiting this outlet can buy the latest mobile phones, as well as obtain exclusive MTV merchandise.

The MTV Mobile brand is already present in various countries around the world, including Italy, Germany, France, Spain, UK, USA, Japan and Brazil.
