Mowgli’s Story at St James Cavalier – magical theatre for children

Malta Independent Sunday, 10 May 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Have you ever thought of being raised by wolves in a jungle? Whom would you meet? Which animals would be your friends and which would be your enemies? What if you never met another human being? This is the story of Mowgli, a young girl who grows up surrounded by huge trees and different kinds of animal species.

Il-Grajja tal-Gungla is a Maltese stage adaptation by Trevor Zahra of one of the best known stories by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book. During this one-hour production, children can interact with the jungle animals on this wonderful adventure as Bagheera, the panther tries to take Mowgli back to where she truly belongs. But the journey turns out to be a difficult one where dangers are met and decisions need to be taken. Kaa the serpent and SheerKhan the tiger are the true villains who want to kill young Mowgli. Throughout their adventure, Mowgli and her friends meet other animals such as the sleepy vultures, the monkeys and Colonel Hathi together with her dawn patrol.

This production can be enjoyed by children as well as adults who wish to explore a different world. A world full of adventures and surprises, where friends laugh and help each other. Come and share this journey with us at St James on Saturday 16 May at 5pm and Sunday 17 May at 5pm and 7pm. Tickets cost e8.50 and can be booked through St James Cavalier on 2122 3216 or via email [email protected]
