UCIM said that during next week’s Grand Prix de Malte, they will be unveiling the Alfa Romeo MiTo and a series limited edition Fiat 500 models, including the one designed high-end fashion brand Diesel® and the FIAT 500 Ferrari.

The unveiling will coincide with the annual motoring feast which will be held in Valletta between 14-17 May.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo, is all that an Alfa should be within a 4-metre length masterpiece designed after the iconic Alfa 8C Competizione supercar. Its engines are small in capacity, which means economical, yet powerful thanks to efficient turbocharging. The new Alfa MiTo uses in its name the first two letters of “Milano” and “Torino” to mark the fact that is it designed in the first and built in the second.

The MiTo’s range includes a 1.4MPI petrol engine developing 95bhp and two 1.4TB Turbo charged petrol engines with 120bhp and 155bhp, the latter giving the MiTo an acceleration to 100km in just eight seconds flat and a top speed of 215Km/h! In addition diesel versions include a 1.3JTDm Turbo Diesel with 90bhp and a 1.6JTDm with 120bhp. The trim levels available are the Progression or the high-speced Distinctive. Most engines also include the innvative D.N.A, system by means of which the driver can alter the setup characteristics of the MiTo (D-ynamic / N-ormal / A-ll Weather) to suit driving circumstances or mood preferences. Emissions across the engines range from a mere 114g/km up to just 153g/km.

Fiat’s 500 Diesel will be seen for the very first time in Malta – produced in limited edition (10,000 copies in two years), in partnership with the Italian clothing company Diesel. This particular model combines fashion and mechanics; a style that has transformed the 500 Fiat into an “Urban Survival Vehicle”, along with Diesel logos, new trim on the bumpers and bodywork, exclusive wheels, three paint colours and a dressed up interior. All the ingredients required to create a winning Italian master piece.

Another attraction not to be missed is the limited edition 500 Ferrari. Based on the 500 Sport version and distinguished by traditional Ferrari red paintwork, the exclusive variants are fitted with Fiat’s lively 1.4-litre 100 bhp engine and offer special tuning and exhaust in harmony with the sporting spirit of the Prancing Horse.

These models will be exhibited in the car exhibition which will be held in Freedom Square, Valletta, during next week’s Gran Prixe de Malte and the MiTo will also honour each of the four races to be held on 16 and 17 May, by leading the racing cars through the first warm up lap of the Valletta ring road which will be transformed into a circuit for the occasion.
