I write with reference to the article Caravan site summer offer made against strict conditions regarding the temporary Caravan site in Bahar ic-Caghaq.
While the article gives a very accurate and faithful account of the briefing addressed by Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi, allow me to point out that it might give the impression that the Bahar ic-Caghaq site was offered by the government when in fact it was a specific request made by Safari Camping Club for temporary accommodation for the coming summer.
The government, through a memorandum of understanding, has outlined the conditions which have been set for the very first time, by which the club will need to abide.
Among others, the memorandum of understanding states that the Club will supply a bank guarantee of e12,000 which will be forfeited at any infringement, an encroachment fee of e40,000 for the use of the land, as well as the responsibility for the maintenance and cleanliness of the area.

Editorial note: The report in question made it crystal clear that the government has set out strict conditions for the Safari Camping Club to make use of the site, as the headline itself points out: ‘Caravan site summer offer made against strict conditions’. Apart from specifying the conditions, the report also notes that it was the Safari Camping Club that had asked the government to designate an area for a camping site. The government, in turn, responded, making sure that things are dealt with in the best way possible.
