Please allow me to reply to Mark Theuma with reference to his letter on TMID dated 16 May under the heading Time For Change.
Some issues he mentioned regarding the state of Marsascala’s pavements I agree with, but that is an ongoing process.
I have been on the Marsascala council for the past twelve years and changing pavements is never ending in our locality. This is attributed to various reasons and may be of no interest to your readers.
However, in relation to allegations of poor street lighting in most of the locality, I feel I have to make a point. I can assure Mr Theuma that if anyone came to the council or approached any council member to complain about lack of lighting or any related problem, I would have done my very best to see the area lit up. Please be informed that in the last three years alone we have installed more than 50 new lanterns in residential areas and more than 100 ornamental lights along the promenade as well as several others in the St Thomas bay area.
I strongly encourage your correspondent to approach the council and put forward his suggestions if he knows of any specific areas which might need attention. And I assure him that if he wants to, I will be more than happy to meet him. I am confident that as we did on all other problems regarding street lighting, we will also resolve his complaints.
