GSSE 2009: Four Reach finals

Nicole Caruana and Nicky Muscat qualified for the final of the 100m backstroke yesterday morning at the Limassol Pool.

Cremona finished in sixth place and Muscat was eighth.

In the final Cremona clocked 1.08.06 while Muscat was timed at 1:10.12.

Davina Mangion also qualified for the final in the 100m butterfly after finishing fourth in her heat. In the final, she finished sixth in a time of 1:07.43.

Melinda Sue Micallef qualified automatically for the final of the 100m breaststroke. She finished in fifth place in a time of 1:20.44.

The 100m freestyle relay saw the Malta team finishing fourth behind Iceland, Luxembourg and Cyprus, but they were far away from the bronze medal.

In fact, Iceland won the event in 8:33.25. Second were Luxembourg in 8:37.86 while Cyprus was third in 8:39.16. Malta was timed at 9:03.72, while Monaco finished last in 9:15.18.
