Now that the results of the local council elections are out, I feel that I must thank all those Marsascala residents who, for the fifth consecutive time, have appreciated all that I have done over the years for the benefit of our locality.
I must also thank the mayor and councillors including those who did not contest this time round and those candidates who were not elected in the last election. I also congratulate the newly elected councillors from both parties with whom I look forward to work for the next four years on behalf of the Marsascala residents.
Thanks also to my family, friends, members of the PN local committee, local council staff, ministers and parliamentary secretaries who have supported me and helped me throughout the years. I congratulate also PN councillors Sandro Gatt and Jesmond Mugliett.
As I have done in the last 12 years, I commit myself to ensuring that all the projects earmarked for Marsascala, either by the local council or the Central Government, are executed in their respective timings. Such projects include:
The new local council offices which includes Police Station and other offices,
The new Family Park project started almost two years ago and hopefully construction will start once Mepa permits are granted.
A new playing field,
Surfacing of the remaining residential roads.
During the coming weeks, I will do my utmost to have a better refuse collection. I would like to see a cleaner promenade, free from garbage, food leftovers and dog excrement. As a councillor, I will emphasise the better use of tools to reduce the daily abuse of over speeding in certain streets, litter, and to curb vandalism in public places.
All this and more can be achieved if we just keep in mind one objective: the well being of Marsascala and its residents.
