Sliema Wanderers continued to dominate the local transfer market with the presentation of two new important signings yesterday.
These are Hamrun’s midfielder Ryan Fenech and Valletta’s defender Josef Mifsud. These two signings followed the transfer of MFA footballer of the year Clayton Failla from newly crowned champions Hibernians.
Ryan Fenech was signed on a one-year loan from the Spartans who were relegated to the First Division league last season. For Josef Mifsud this will be a return to base, having started his career with the Wanderers in season 2001-02, before spells with Lija Athletics, Msida SJ and Valletta with whom he won the Premier League title in season 2008-09.
Sliema President Steve Abela said that Sliema’s shopping spree is not over yet as the Wanderers aim to challenge for the league title after winning the FA Trophy in a penalty shoot-out with Valletta. In the coming days the Wanderers hope to close the deal on Birkirkara’s striker Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza.
Sliema President Steve Abela confirmed his side’s interest Hamrun’s Sylvano Comvalius who was one of the Spartans’ best players last season. Sliema confirmed that the only foreigner so far among their ranks is Romaniad defender Lucian Dronca.
