I was at Ramla bay in Gozo with my family for a few days. However, I couldn’t believe there were no life guards present. Why is this so? In Malta there are some beaches with lifeguards.

Is this because Gozitians are such good swimmers? What is the Ministry for Gozo doing in this respect? Or is it the responsibility of another Minister?

Has the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch been approached to offer this service? What are the Red Cross people doing? To my knowledge they have a lifeguard team and even a water rescue craft.

Is the Red Cross not able to offer this service as they did a couple of years back? Or is it lack of support from the authorities to the Red Cross?

If yes, why is this so? I would also like to inform all fellow readers that the structure in the middle of the bay is not a lifeguard post.

The public can easily be misguided due to the fact that first aid and bay watch is written on it. Is this the fruits of labour of the GAIA foundation? Is this where all the funds were poured into? In other EU countries lifeguards are present at all beaches.
