Letter: Alfred Farrugia’s Dream

Malta Independent Monday, 6 July 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

I have read the above article that was published in The Malta Independent several times and I have to agree with Alfred Farrugia on most points that he has raised. We posses a wealth of natural talent in the form of Single Seater drivers, Autocross drivers, Quarter mile drivers, Motor cycle drivers, Kart drivers, the list is endless.

Can you imagine if these guys had a decent Racing Circuit that they could train on week in week out, what would they have been able to do? I am sure that we would be in a position to possibly have a driver that is more than capable of driving a 4.5 litre Ferrari V8 engine producing 600 bhp or any other machine of the same calibre.

One has only to look back at the recent achievements that our boys achieved in nearby Sicily at hill climb events as well as Karting events.

It is a great pity that Alfred Farrugia is on the other side of the Atlantic as I am of the opinion that if he was still around we would have, by now, had our Racing Track as I remember some “40 odd years ago he was organising carcades in support of Ta’ Qali for Motor Racing.
