What About businesses at City Gate?

Malta Independent Wednesday, 8 July 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

The Piano project is a work of art. It gives our capital city a new face. But, and it is a big but, what about those who invested thousands of euro employing a large number of employees in establishments round the entrance of the main gate?

Where consultations were carried out to value the financial and employment impact on the hundreds of workers in the commercial sector.

Work and solidarity was, and hopefully remains, one of the principles of our government.

Time is precious. Time is waiting for a solution so that hundreds of workers will not lose their jobs.

We should all stand up and be counted.

Let us not be blindfolded and not heed to reality.

Hopefully a just solution will crop up and we will together be able to find the right solution at the right time.

Together with goodwill we can, we shall and we will be able to overcome this problem.

I stand for progress, yet, above all I stand for solidarity with these workers who could be hard hit if their voices are not heard.
