Malta Independent Friday, 10 July 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Over the last 10 years the aim of the Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta and Gozo supported by the MTA, HSBC and Marsovin has been to create an objective survey based guide that allows the public to choose their favourite restaurants and score them in terms of food, service and ambience. It today prides itself in being the only objective and best-selling Restaurant Guide in the Maltese Islands which has helped to set new standards in the restaurant industry, bringing the Maltese Islands closer to becoming the Gastronomic Centre of the Mediterranean.

To celebrate this 10 year achievement The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co have produced a stunning coffee table book The Definitive(ly) Best Restaurants in Malta & Gozo which includes Malta’s and Gozo’s finest restaurants with photography by Kurt Arrigo. This unique book was launched at a glamourous event held at Luna di Sera in the Gardens of Palazzo Parisio.

Lisa Grech, Managing Director of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co said of the book “we are delighted to be able to further promote the finest restaurants in Malta & Gozo in this beautiful publication and to mark our 10th anniversary”. “As well as the restaurants featured in The Definitive(ly) Best Restaurants in Malta and Gozo there is a good selection of cuisine ranging from traditional local specialty dishes to an exciting range of international cuisine. The restaurants have been visually brought to life by one of Malta’s most talented photographers Kurt Arrigo, who has captured their ambience and unique personality. Also included are the chef’s favourite recipes”.

Palazzo Parisio was proud to be hosting this celebration party and book launch. Luna di Sera, the evening restaurant at Palazzo Parisio, opened earlier this year and is already acclaimed as one of Malta’s top restaurants and proud to be featured in The Definitive(ly) Best Restaurants book. Guests were welcomed by the Baroness of Tabria and were able to experience for themselves the unique style of the Luna di Sera restaurant, whilst sampling a selection of the highly creative menu. Various dignitaries and lovers of good food attended the event and entertainment was provided by Australian soprano Rebecca Rashleigh, accompanied by Rosetta Debattista on piano.

As to plans for the year and the Restaurant Guide, Lisa said “we will conduct the next restaurant survey this September and the top 150 restaurants will make it into the Guide. From that selection restaurants will be offered further awards which include best for Maltese Food; top rated for Business Entertainment; Best Value for Money; Best Wine list; most Romantic; Best Healthy Options; most Children Friendly; Best Restrooms and Best Restaurant Overall. To further celebrate our 10th Anniversary we will hold a spectacular Restaurant Gala Dinner Award Ceremony this December and special prizes will be presented to the restaurants that have consistently won awards over the last ten years”.

The Definitive(ly) Best Restaurants in Malta and Gozo is available to purchase online at www.restaurantsmalta.com or at most bookshops in Malta.
