Mogren Vs Hibernians football match

Malta Independent Friday, 10 July 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Last Wednesday’s FK Mogren (Montenegro) vs Hibernians Champions League first qualifying round second leg match was supposed to have been screened on Internet by some TV stations, probably from Montenegro.

The transmission, however, was not available – at least locally.

This must have infuriated some Maltese persons, among them someone who even swore with the mention of the Holy Host in one short sentence. Immediately afterwards, another person, most probably from Montenegro who had already informed the local boy of the unavailability of the transmission on that site, replied, asking “Are you Maltese?”

Apart from the swearing, the same local person also used obvious obscene language in the chat room of one of the web sites.

I am also informed that the sentence where mention of the Holy Host was made, was erased after some minutes.

It is a real pity that some Maltese (not all) have to resort to swearing and using obscene words. This certainly was no advertisement for these Islands.
