The Union Haddiema Maghqudin is calling on the government to honour an agreement concluded in October, 2007 under which paramedics, health inspectors, ECG technicians and pharmacy technicians were given the right to return to the public service and enjoy a bridging facility, so that their previous years of service would be recognised both for salary purposes and regarding progression in the salary scales.
The union said it wrote to the Health Division, the ministry, and the management and personnel office but no one answered. It is insisting on an immediate adjustment in salaries, with arrears.
Meanwhile, the Ministry for Social Policy replied and said it would like to emphasise that the government is honouring the bridging agreement. It asked the union to substantiate these allegations so that they will be verified and action will be taken if necessary.
